Sweet Dreams
I put my sweet baby girl to bed in her room last night for the first time. I have had her in a bassinett in our room since we brought her home and I was having a hard time thinking about her being so far away. I asked Andy to move her crib to our room but he didn't like that idea ;) She is totally filling out the bassinett with only two inches left between her head and the top so it was definitely time! Welll...It was tough but with the help of a video monitor and angel care monitor I was able to do it! (by the way... everyone should of one of each of these monitors!! Thanks to Scott and Liz for our Angel Care monitor!) Kendal slept great (9 to 4:15!) and I am sure I will sleep better tonight after the first night behind me.

Where did we go?
I have beyond neglected this blog! We have been so busy in the last seven months and I just haven't had the time to maintain this thing! I have heard about it from several of you ;) Here is a quick run down of what we have been up to in the last few months...
You already know we moved into the house in December and here is a picture of the house that I promised you months ago!
January brought a new year and the good news of baby #2! Owen is expecting his baby sister to arrive at the end of September! My birthday is the 24th, my grandpa's is the 27th, my great-grandmothers was the 21st, Andy's sister's is the 17th, and Joe's is the 26th! With all those September birthdays this little girl is bound to share a birthday with someone! I have looked up the full moon and it is 9/23. There is a good chance she could arrive on my birthday on the 24th! That would be crazy! Owen is so sweet the way he talks to my belly and tells "baby sister" hello or good morning. I can't wait to see them together! He is going to be the best big brother! Let's just hope little sister survives her super hero big brother! He has already been shooting me and baby sister with his toys. She is definitely going to have to be tough ;)
I started my classes at the beginning of February to get my teaching certificate. It was a four month class that was three nights a week from 5:30 to 9:30. It was really tough being away from my boys that much! I was also very sick with this pregnancy and that lasted almost the entire duration of the class! I am happy to report the classes are behind me and I now just have to take a couple of tests and do a week of observation and then I can get a teaching job. With the baby due in September I will not be looking for a job just yet... I have three years to get a job to complete my certification so I have a little time.
We got snow in Central Texas in February and this was Owen's first time to play in the snow! He liked it until the cold wetness soaked through his clothes. I can't blame him... I hate to be cold. I did bundle him up as best I could. He looked like Ralphie from A Christmas Story... LOL...he literally could not put his arms all the way down by his side! We didn't have as much snow as some of you but there was enough to make snow angels and Owen really enjoyed that...other than putting his head in the snow ;)
Owen had another first in February. We took him on his first airplane ride when we went to my cousin's wedding in Nashville. He did really well and loved the airplane! He had a toy airplane that Pa had bought him that he held and played with the whole time on the plane. The wedding was gorgeous! I don't have any pics... my sister took her camera so I will have to get the pics from her... hint, hint. Congratulations to Matt and Brittany Jenkins!

In April Andy and I celebrated our sixth anniversary. I can't believe it has already been six years since we got married! Time flies! From the time we started dating Andy has always been really great about sending flowers. I have gotten some beautiful flowers from him over the years but the arrangement be brought me for our anniversary took the cake! This picture doesn't even do it justice... beautiful! I love that guy... not just for the flowers but for being a loving, thoughtful, wonderful, husband and father! I am one lucky girl :)
April also brought Easter and a milestone for Owen. We put our own twist on Easter this year. Owen made a trade with the Easter bunny... we told him that we would gather all his binkies (pacifiers) for the Easter bunny and leave them on the front porch. In case you didn't know... the Easter bunny takes the binkies and gives them to babies! In return for his donation, the Easter bunny would leave Owen a BIG SURPRISE! I can't believe it worked. He and daddy gathered them all up and put them in a bag on the porch. Owen was thrilled to find his Easter basket and never really asked for the binkies again! I am so glad to be rid of those things! It really makes me think twice about giving one to baby girl.

We also celebrated several things in June! Father's Day, a surprise marriage, and Owen's birthday! (I will post Owen's birthday separately.) Here are my boys on Father's Day:
Kelly and Joe went to Aruba in the middle of June and decided to get married while they were there! We are all so excited to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Eakin!

Well there you have it! See... we have been busy! I promise to do better with the blog. I will post Owen's birthday party and our road trip vacation very soon! :)

In March, Andy and Beau decided to take up a new hobby with brewing their own beer! It actually turned out really good! I could only take a very small sample of course, but so far everyone seems to like it. With as busy as we have been we haven't really had time to brew more. Beau has become the "head brew-meister"! Hopefully we can get brewing again soon...

We kicked off the hot month of May with some quality sprinkler time!...
And we celebrated Mother's Day :)
In June we went to Sea World with the Faske's! I love Sea World! We lived in San Antonio for a few years when I was a kid and I never got tired of Sea World. I really enjoy taking Owen there and I usually enjoy the rides but had to sit them out this time ;) We did go late in the day to catch some of the new evening shows but it was still REALLY HOT! This was the first time Owen was tall enough to ride the Shamu roller coaster and he loved it! In the second picture check out Andy and Owen in the second to last car. Owen had both arms straight up in the air! Erin and Cason are right behind them.

Where have we been?!
I can't believe it has been a month since I posted! Actually... I can believe it! November and December are kind of a blur to say the least! The final push to finish the house at the end of November was beyond stressful. Not because we had any problems (thank goodness!) but just because there were people working around the clock and we had to be there daily, as we could, checking on things and monitoring the finishing touches. It was really exhausting running up and down the highway between, Salado, Harker Heights, Temple and The Grove. Work was very busy during this time as well and as I look back now I am so thankful we pushed through all that... it was totally worth it! I am happy to say the house is finished and we moved in the first weekend in December! We didn't take any time off for the move but had lots of help from family and friends. I will say the POD we stored everything in was WONDERFUL! It was perfect for our situation and I would totally recommend it! ANYWAY, what a blessing to spend Christmas in our new home! There will be more posts later with house pictures, Christmas pictures, New Years, etc.
On another note... I am starting a new project next month. I will be taking a class through the Region here to get my teaching certificate! I am very excited to make this change! It's a bit scary thinking about changing professions after being in the mortgage business for 10 years! But I know I will love it. The class will be three nights a week from 5:30 to 9:30! YIKES! It's only about three months long so I think I can handle that. Some of you may not know this but I am not so much a night owl these days! I am usually in bed and asleep by 9 so I think I may have to take coffee to class! If you went to elementary school with me you may remember Mrs. Curtis...??? I don't remember what grade... maybe 4th...anyway, she was one of my all time favorite teachers! Maybe it was a sign... now I am on track to be Mrs. Curtis and hopefully touch childrens lives as she did mine! YEAH!
Check back soon~
