Memories

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot-- or just from blogland-- anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

This is really fun! I don't have a lot of blogging friends but we'll see what kind of memories we get. Please keep in mind, my family reads this blog from time to time ;) Not that there could be any stories out there that are embarrassing :)

**New postings coming soon about Owen's 1st birthday and our trip to Cabo! Stay tuned!**

IT DOES A BODY GOOD!

MILK... That is. We have been waiting until Owen's first birthday to give him cow's milk. This is what is recommended by pediatricians and I was really trying to go "by the book" on this because of my severe milk allergy as a child. Well we cheated by a week and tried whole milk this weekend... Hey Mikey, He likes it!!! FINALLY, I can get this kid to drink milk other than his mothers ;) We had tried to give him formula recently and he would not drink it, he has been making the most awful faces. We tried whole milk on Sunday and he made an awful face but he was drinking it. I was giving it to him cold b/c let's face it... I can't be warming up his milk for the rest of his life and we all know he will come to love it cold. Anyway, last night I went ahead and warmed it up and the babe drank 9 ounces before bed! (this was after a full meal... little piggy). So FINALLY, Owen can be weaned and I can get a part of myself back ;) It will be an adjustment for me as well, but it is for the best. Now if we could just get him to sleep all night ;) Baby steps...

Owen goes swimming!

We recently got Owen a pool. Okay, so its just as much for me as it is for him! He enjoys splashing around and I enjoy soaking up the rays! Just wanted to share this picture of Owen in his pool! He really loves the water! I think he get's that from his mommy :)

BACK HOME

A couple of weeks ago we traveled to my home town of Stephenville for my step-sister's high school graduation. This is also where Andy and I met in college, at Tarleton State University, so we always enjoy going back and reminiscing about "the good old days". We started with a family dinner at The Agave (a restaurant at the local bar where we used to hang out...awww). If any of you know the story of me and Andy you know that this is the bar (City Limits) where I "picked Andy up" LOL! Some of my friends from High School were able to join us so we could get all our boys together. We attempted to get a group picture and I think we did pretty good considering there are three babies in the picture. I can't believe we all have boys! Jennifer also has Tryston but we couldn't get him to join us in the picture... :(

(April & Banner, Me & Owen, Jennifer & Asher)

(Okay... so we had to bribe Banner with a sucker and a balloon which Owen was trying to steal but at least they are all looking at the camera. Look how good Asher was!)

Rachael got a beautiful Juicy purse from her cousin for her graduation so I of course had her pose with it...

Let's just take a minute to congratulate Rachael on her high school graduation! Way to go Rach! She is headed to Tarleton this fall and is moving out on her own on July 1st! Good luck Rachael! We know you are going to have a blast!

So back to the trip... The next day my dad cooked out and we swam and had my friend Lyndsey and her family over for lunch. Her son, Liam, just loved Owen and they had a good time swimming in the hot tub. Liam kept saying "Owen likes me", it was too cute! Of course Owen just loved Liam and really wanted to run around with him.

Lyndsey just had a baby girl, Heagan, who was also able make the trip. Isn't she just precious?! Liam is also very proud of his little sister and loves her very much! It was so sweet to see them together!

It was so great to go back home and see all of my friends from high school. We don't get to see each other very often so it was great to visit. Even if it was a little difficult with all these babies! We also had a great time at my dad's house. Owen has some new favorite toys... baking sheets and measuring cups ;) You have to improvise when you are away from home ;) Thanks Gabby and Bibi for introducing Owen to these new LOUD toys ;)

Andy's Handy Work

I just wanted to post this picture that Andy took of Owen. He recently downloaded a trial version of photo shop and he is getting quite good with it... just wanted to share :)

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME

Last Friday we took Owen to his very first baseball game!

We went to the Round Rock Express game in Round Rock. They are a minor league team. Gabby, Becky, Steffanie and Hannah all joined us.

We had a wonderful time and Owen was very observant of everything going on around him! He actually did quite well sitting through the entire game. Of course it wouldn't be a baseball game witout cotton candy :) Although, Owen decided very quickly he didn't like it! I couldn't believe it! Hannah was trying to feed it to him and he would open his mouth but I guess he couldn't get past the texture or the fact that it dissolved on his tongue, because he kept making a sour face. You would have thought he was eating a lemon! It was SOOOOOO funny! We stayed for the fire works after the game and that put him right to sleep... he may have been a little worn out too ;) What a great memory to add to the bank!

Here and there and EVERYWHERE!

As you can see by the date I posted my last blog, we have obviously been VERY busy! My dad and Becky came down to visit Owen earlier this month and we had a good visit. Owen really loves his Gabby :) I hosted a baby shower for my dear friend Lyndsey on April 12th. She is expecting a baby girl, Heagan, on May 21st and we showered her with gifts galore! That girl will never run out of clothes!!!! It was a great day and so good to see Lyndsey! We have been friends since high school and I cherish her friendship so much! We stayed at Nana and Papa's after the shower to squeeze in a quick visit.

The Grandparents and Great Grandparents (yes it took four of them) babysat Owen for us on Saturday night and we actually went OUT! We met Scott and Liz at the House of Blues in Dallas and went to my cousin's concert. My cousin is in an alternative band and we just love to go hear them play when we get a chance :) http://www.greenriverordinance.com/ - check them out, they're GREAT!!!

We had such a great time stepping out on the town ;)

Owen News: Owen is growing like a weed! He is now 10 months old and has changed so much in the last two months. He is crawling all over the place. (he's graduated from his "injured soldier" crawl to an actual crawl on all fours) It's so funny to see him crawl because he lifts up his hands real high as if he is prancing. Too cute! He is also pulling up on everything and starting to "cruise" a little. He will be walking in NO TIME! I can't believe it! He is sleeping a little better at night; he's only been waking up once at night for the last couple of days. We have also been teaching him baby sign language and he is really picking it up. His favorite sign? TOUCHDOWN! He also knows "more" and "daddy". ALSO, he has his two bottom teeth coming in. He is going to look so cute with teeth. Maybe now he'll grow some hair and loose his old man look ;) We just ordered him a pool for the summer and I can't wait for the weather to get a little warmer so we can swim :) Owen LOVES his baths so I can't wait to see what fun he will have in the pool!!!

Mimi is coming down today and we are headed to the Poppy Festival in the morning to see what crafts we can find :)
